Covet: Jenni Kayne D’Orsay Flats
Put simply, Jenni Kayne’s designs are cool. They aren’t precious, over complicated or trendy, and reflect a very focused sense of self and design aesthetic. With an elevated sense of California cool, and an anonymous approach to silhouette, Kayne’s designs are easy staples for any closet to adopt.
Kayne’s “D’Orsay Flat” is the perfect flat. Here’s why:
- Its half-inch heel is subtly hidden to give an small boost of height, while the actual structure of the heel is camouflaged within the shoe’s design to present a nearly-flat illusion.
- The vamp has a seam where most toe caps end for women’s flats, but it then continues further up the bed for a very subtle menswear effect.
- The foot is exposed between the vamp and the start of the curve of the heel, which gives the feet an interesting and intriguing “look” when viewed from any angle — especially the the front.
- Finally, the toe is pointed in such a way that isn’t too “witchy” or girly, offering a lengthening effect for the foot.
Day or night, office or play, with jeans or a dress, the D’Orsay Flats are smart and sexy. The only dilemma is color and fabric choice. From navy suede to gold lizard leather or an arrow print in silk/wool, opportunities abound to be cool in all colors.
